Signing in with X

For anyone using “Continue with X” — what it does, why it cannot make you an account, and how to attach X to the one you have.

Continue with X on the sign-in page signs you in with the X account you have attached to your EVVA account. Press it, approve the request at X, and you are brought back signed in.

Attaching X is the first step, and it happens in your account settings: open your Connected accounts panel and press Connect X. See Connected accounts and where your settings live.

X cannot create an account for you

This part is by design rather than a gap, and it will not change: X cannot be used to create a new EVVA account.

X does not tell EVVA a confirmed email address, and EVVA will not create an account without one. So a first-ever sign-in with X is refused, with: This provider did not share a verified email address, so we could not sign you in. Use your email and password instead.

That is why X is offered on the sign-in page but never on the sign-up page — the sign-up page shows Google only.

The order is therefore fixed: sign in to EVVA some other way first, attach X to your account from your settings, and from then on X can sign you in. The note under the button states that rule: X works here once you have connected it in your account settings. It cannot create a new EVVA account on its own, because it does not share a verified email address.

If the X button will not go through

Two messages are about the connection to X rather than about your account:

  • X sign-in is unavailable right now. Please use your email and password. — the sign-in could not be started.
  • That provider is unavailable right now. — attaching X from your settings could not be completed.

Wait a moment and try again, or sign in with your email and password in the meantime.

What EVVA asks X for

The permissions EVVA requests from X are read-only: the ability to read your X profile and posts, nothing more. EVVA does not ask for permission to post on your behalf, and does not hold long-lived access to your X account.

Nothing about your EVVA account depends on having X attached. Password and Google sign-in give you complete access.
