Mass messages

For creators — writing one message to a whole audience, the three-a-day limit, the audiences you can pick, and how to stop a send halfway.

A mass message sends one message to an audience of your fans. It lives in the creator app under Mass messages, and you can send three a day.

Writing one

Press New mass message. The fields are:

  • Send it to — the audience.
  • Message — up to 2,000 characters.
  • Attached from Vault — files to include.
  • Skip anyone who already bought this.
  • Charge to open it — a price, which makes every recipient’s copy a paid message.
  • Send later — a time to go out.

It saves as a draft. You can save a draft before you have decided on an audience; you just cannot send it without one.

Choosing an audience

AudienceWho it reaches
Everyone you have a chat withEvery fan you have an open chat with.
Recent conversationsChats active within a number of days you choose, from 1 to 365.
Everyone who follows youYour followers.
Paid subscribersFans holding a standing paid subscription.
SpendersFans who have spent at least an amount you set.
A fan listOne of your named fan lists.

Everyone who follows you and Paid subscribers are different groups, and neither contains the other. A follow is free; following is not paying. If you mean the people who pay you, pick paid subscribers. See Followers and subscribers.

The fan lists

Nine fan lists are named in the creator app, and each one carries a count and a message button:

  • All fans
  • Subscribers
  • Expired subscribers
  • Followers
  • Fans who spent at least $50.00
  • Muted fans
  • Free trial
  • Non-renewing
  • Auto-renewing

Each list prints the rule it selects on under its title, so you can see what a count is made of before you message it.

A list’s count is who the list holds, not who will receive the message. Every recipient is still checked as their copy goes out, so Muted fans in particular resolves to an audience whose copies are then skipped. See What your mass message report means.

Sending it

Press send on a draft. This is the point where the limits apply:

  • The draft needs an audience. Without one: “choose an audience before sending”.
  • You can queue three mass messages per day. The day is a UTC day, not your local one, because EVVA does not store a creator timezone.
  • A fourth is refused, and the app tells you what it did instead: “Saved as a draft — you have already used today’s mass messages. Send it tomorrow from Drafts.”

Once sending starts, EVVA works through the audience in batches of 50, with a short pause between batches. Each recipient is checked individually as their copy goes out, so a fan who blocked you, muted you, or opted out of promotional messages is skipped rather than written to.

Stopping one halfway

You can cancel a mass message while it is a draft, while it is queued, and while it is sending. You cannot cancel one that has finished.

Cancelling stops the rest of the list. It does not take back the copies already delivered — the app says so: “It stops going out to the rest of the list. Anyone who already received it keeps it — stopping does not take a message back.” The campaign then honestly reads as cancelled with the number that went out.

Editing a draft, and the other controls

Open a draft from Drafts to change it before it goes out — the message, the audience, the attachments and the price are all still yours to edit at that point.

Three more controls sit on a mass message:

  • Send now on a queued message sends it straight away instead of waiting for the time you set.
  • See who bought lists the recipients who paid to unlock the message.
  • Write for me in the composer drafts the message for you; edit it before you send it.

A campaign that has finished is final. Once it reads sent or partially failed you cannot edit it or cancel it, so read a draft through before you send — and remember that writing a replacement spends another of the day’s three.

If your account is suspended

Mass messages stop: “Mass messages are paused while your account is suspended.” Switching an automated rule on is blocked too.

Ordinary one-to-one chat keeps working, deliberately — that is how you can still talk to support and appeal. Your Account health screen explains why and what happens next.

If EVVA cannot check your account standing at that moment you get “We could not check your account standing just now. Nothing has changed — try again in a moment.” That one is worth retrying.
