Why you cannot publish yet
For creators looking at a dimmed Publish button or a refusal under it — every reason, and what fixes each one.
EVVA always says why. A dimmed publish button has a sentence under it, and a refusal after you press it has one too. Find yours below.
Before you press Publish
These dim the button in the New post composer:
In the older content manager the equivalent messages are Add a title to publish, “Waiting for your media to finish processing…”, “Video processing failed. Remove it and upload again.” and “Saving media…”.
After you press Publish
“Your media is still processing. Wait for it to finish, then try again.”
The post is refused because at least one attached file is not serveable yet. That covers a file still being converted, one whose versions are incomplete, one that failed, one that has been deleted, and one whose stored bytes are gone.
Wait for the tiles to stop saying Processing…, then publish again.
The check is per file, so a post with several files is refused until the slowest one is ready. If every tile looks finished and the post is still refused, leave the composer and reopen the draft — the current state of each file is read again when you do.
“Video processing failed. Remove it and upload again.”
Final. There is no retry, because the same file will be refused the same way. Remove it, re-export the video as MP4 / H.264 / AAC, and upload the new file — see Video requirements and processing.
“The post changed somewhere else. Reopen it and try again.”
The post was edited elsewhere — another tab, another device. Nothing was written. Reopen it and redo the change.
“One of these files is already attached somewhere with different visibility.”
A file on this post is public on another post, or locked on another post, and it cannot be both. See Reusing a file on more than one post.
“This post has no audience yet. Choose who it is for — everyone, followers or subscribers — or set a price to sell it, before publishing.”
The server’s version of the audience gate, which you will only see if the button let you through.
“A pay-per-view post needs a price above zero.” or “A FOLLOWERS post is free, so its price must be zero.”
The audience and the price contradict each other. They are paired in both directions — see Who can see your post.
“This post is limited to a specific audience, so it cannot carry public media. Attach the asset as gated media, or change the post’s audience to everyone first.”
You have a file marked public on a post limited to followers, subscribers or a price. Either turn off Make this post’s media public for that file (remove it and add it again), or make the post free.
“Cannot publish an item with status ARCHIVED; only a DRAFT can be published”
Only a draft can be published through that action. An archived post can be put back on your page from its own Status card.
“The post is missing something the server needs.” or “Could not save the post. Please try again.”
The first means something in the post did not pass validation — check the price, the tags and the schedule time. The second is a failed request rather than a refusal: try again.
If your account is suspended
Publishing and scheduling are unavailable while a creator account is suspended: “This action is unavailable while the account is suspended.”
You can still write and edit drafts, and you can always cancel a schedule — that one is never taken away, so a post that is going to go out can always be stopped.
If EVVA cannot check your account’s standing at that moment you see “Could not verify account standing. Please try again.” — that is a failed check, not a suspension.
Things that do not block publishing
A caption is not required. The gate is files. A post with media and no words publishes fine.
A moderation flag on a file does not stop the post. Moderation is applied when media is served, not when a post is published. A flagged file publishes with the post and then simply does not load — for anybody, including you. If a published post shows a file that never loads for anyone, that is the likeliest explanation.
