Why did a sale from my own offer earn me the platform split?

For creators who sent a buyer to their own marketplace offer and were paid 50/50 — what decides the split, and what to check.

Because the order carried no qualifying record that you brought the buyer, so EVVA applied its platform default: 50/50.

The split is decided when the order is placed, from the evidence recorded on the buyer’s way to it. Where that evidence identifies you as the one who brought them, you keep 75%. Where the engine finds none, it records the outcome as “no qualifying touch” and applies the default — you keep 50%.

What is different about a custom request

A custom request is created by the buyer, and the record of how that buyer arrived travels with the request all the way through to the order. The negotiation and the agreement sit between the two, and the origin is carried across all of them.

That does not guarantee you the 75% share on a request: the engine still decides from the evidence it has. No route hands you a share — every sale is weighed the same way.

What you can do now

  • Where you bring a buyer yourself, send them through your own link, so their arrival is on the record before they order.
  • Where the work is bespoke, the custom-request route carries the buyer’s origin through the negotiation and the agreement. See How do I propose on a buyer’s request?
  • Check the real figure on Earnings & Payouts rather than working it out from the gross amount on the order card.

Nothing about this is a penalty and nothing was deducted twice. The 50/50 case is a decided, recorded outcome — the same outcome EVVA applies to any sale it cannot attribute to a creator. It is not an error state and it will not be corrected after the fact.
