Refunds, chargebacks and your balance
For creators who have had a sale refunded or disputed — which numbers move, and whether you can end up owing EVVA.
A refund takes back your share of that sale, in proportion. It comes out of Pending first, and if the money for that sale has already cleared, out of what cleared for that same sale.
It is never taken from your other earnings. A reversal is applied against the specific sale being refunded, so one buyer’s refund is never paid for out of another buyer’s purchase.
What moves and what does not
- Pending and Available go down by your share of the refund.
- Earned all time does not go down. It records what you earned on that sale, and a refund is recorded as a separate reversal rather than as a change to the original sale. See Your earnings page explained.
- Your share is unaffected by the payment-processing fee either way. EVVA bears that cost on a sale, and a refund does not return it — the provider keeps it and EVVA absorbs it.
A chargeback is treated the same as a refund
When a buyer disputes a charge with their bank, it is a forced refund, and your side of it is reversed identically — same proportion, same order of pockets, same records.
Two things follow from that:
- A refund and a chargeback draw on the same capacity against the original payment. A sale already partly refunded has correspondingly less left for a dispute to take.
- No chargeback fee is charged to you. A dispute fee is never taken out of your earnings.
If a dispute comes in for more than the original payment has left to reverse, EVVA does not post it automatically. It is set aside for a person to handle.
Your balance can go negative
It can, and the route is a payout. If money from a sale cleared, you withdrew it, and that sale is later refunded or charged back, there is nothing left in your balance to reverse. The shortfall is recorded as a debt against your account.
If you see a negative balance, contact support and settle how it is to be cleared.
The creator earnings and payouts terms set out EVVA’s rights to recover an overpaid or reversed amount.
No reserves or risk holds
EVVA does not place reserves or risk holds on your earnings. The only reason money sits out of reach is the clearing step described in When your pending earnings become available.
